3rd Advent, Christmas is coming - Kolmas adventti, joulu lähestyy

This week we´ll get the confirmation of the date when we are able to move. Hopefully, it´s the last week of the year, another option is the first week of 2010. The renovations should be soon over and I´ll start the shuttling between two flats. 

Let´s see how interesting are the celebrations of Christmas and New Year in the middle of all this...

Haukilahti, we are coming!

Tällä viikolla saamme tiedon, koska voimme muuttaa. Toivottavasti heti joulun jälkeen ennen uutta vuotta, mutta vuoden ensimmäinen viikko on mahdollinen myös. Remonttien pitäisi olla kohta ohi ja sitten pääsemme aloittamaan laatikoitten siirtämisen kahden asunnon välillä. Saa nähdä kuinka mielenkiintoinen joulu ja uusi vuosi tulee olemaan tämän kaiken keskellä.

Firefox-Opera

One of my colleagues recommended me to start using Opera as my web browser. I decided to give it a try. And I downloaded the free program to my home computer.

Last hours I´ve doing all kinds of stuff in the Opera enviroment, but I´m still quite newbie here. For example I just lost (accidentally deleted) many of my important bookmarks. Everyone who has managed to succeed in this  knows how frustrating it is. Now I have to collect them separately again. 

On the other hand, this browser looks quite good and handy. But the learning process continues...

Eräs työkollegani suositteli siirtymistä Firefoxista Operaan. Päätin, että kokeillaanpa, eipä siitä haittaakaan ole. Latasin kotikoneelleni ilmaisen selaimen ja aloitin tutustumisen. 

Viimeiset tunnit ja vähän viikonlopunkin aikana olen nyt sitten tähän Oopperaan tutustunut ja ihan mielenkiintoiselta tuntuu. Paljon säätämistä on vielä edessä, mutta kyllä mä nyt tähän siirryn. Jos ei muusta syystä, niin vaihtelu virkistää. Oppimisprosessia kyllä on vielä edessä, kun en edes tiedä mitä kaikkea tästä löytyy. 

Onnistuin sitten deletoimaan ison määrän bookmarkseja. Juuri niitä mitä edellisestä selaimesta piti siirtää. Jokainen joka on tämän siirron tehnyt ja onnistunut ison määrän deletoimisessa vahingossa, tietää kuinka ärsyttävää se on. Nyt en esim. pääse kotikoneelta työsähköposteihin, kun en muista ulkoa sen osoitetta. No nyt on vapaapäivä, joten ei kai tarvitsekaan...

The second Sunday in December was yesterday. Here are the candles to remind us. Yesterday was also the Independence Day in Finland.

Toinen adventti oli eilen itsenäisyyspäivän kanssa samaan aikaan. Molemmat ovat tärkeitä ja kynttilät olkoon muistuttamassa meitä tästä.

Song of advent - Adventtilaulu

A new year in Finnish Lutheran Church has begun. One of the most famous songs in Finland this time of year is an Israeli folk song Erev Shel Shoshanim composed by Yossef Hadar. But we Finns know the melody and have a different lyrics in it. The original is not a religious song. Finnish translation by Juhani Forsberg has Christian lyrics. It´s one of the most known hymns in Finland.


Uusi kirkkovuosi alkaa. Yksi tunnetuimmista lauluista tähän aikaan on "Tiellä ken vaeltaa". Yossef Hadarin kappale on alunperin israelilainen kansanlaulu eikä siinä ole oikeastaan mitään ns. hengellistä. Mutta Juhani Forsbergin käännös kertoo adventista meille suomalaisille ja se lienee yksi tutuimmista virsistä virsikirjassamme.

I can't keep my promise:

• to take aircraft photos (just can't arrange time to do that)
• to visit my friends as often as I should or even call
• to remember the birthdays of the relatives (I don't remember how many children my cousins have)
• to sleep more
• not to vote in the next parliament elections because of their corruption (responsibility wins, I presume)
• to read more books based on facts than fiction
• to organize time better at work, so there's no rush so often
• to update this blog with some sensible thoughts...
• not to take football so seriously (I don't know whether this is humour or not...)
• to use my time more wisely and to know what is necessary and what is just unnecessary fun
• to be more active in making the world a tiny bit better place
• to take care my relationship with God.

Missionaries on the air - Lähetystyötä ilmassa

I'm currently in Hyvinkää, a city 30km north of Helsinki. I'm attending a seminar about missionary work in India and Indonesia. Pastor Timo Reuhkala is presenting us why Sanansaattajat want to expand their work with the Lutheran Churches in the area. Interesting. Sanansaattajat is one of the official missionary organizations of the Finnish Lutheran Church. It's main focus is radio, TV and web.

After that and Bible teaching from the gospel of Matthew, I'll drive back home and hope that 1.FC Köln has beaten TSG Hoffenheim in RheinEnergie Stadium.

Olen Hyvinkäällä tällä hetkellä. Hetken päästä alkaa Sanansaattajien seminaari yhteistyöstä Intian ja Indonesian luterilaisten kirkkojen kanssa. ulkomaisen työn johtaja Timo Reuhkala kertoo tästä, odotan aika paljon tältä. Sanansaattajat om Suomen kirkon virallinen lähetysjärjestö, heidän työ keskittyy radioon, televisioon ja webbiin.

Raamattutunnin jälkeen ajelen kotiin takaisin ja toivon, että 1.FC Köln on voittanut TSG Hoffenheimin (tuon rikkaan kyläseuran, jota miljonääri pitää lelunaan) kotipelissä Kölnissä Aachener Strassen RheinEnergie Stadiumilla.
